Altered Giant Clothespin & Calendar Coaster

Let's just start by saying I must be the biggest procrastinator yet! I have a long list of to make cards for family members so what do I pull out? You guessed it, some other goodies that I have been dying to play with! A good friend of mine sent me a giant clothespin and Kathy acquired the snowman template at a recent Lasting Impressions sale that I have been wondering what to do with. I thought it was ugly and at first told her I didn't want it. Boy am I glad I took it now,it fits perfectly onto the giant clothespin. Both gals made me do it, that's my excuse for today's project and share. This would make a wonderful desk accessory. I made it two sided so that you could display the monthly calendar on one side and important days to remember on the other along with a little pocket for notes or gift ideas.

These would be a great gift make a matching set for each month. What do you think?

Halloween Mini Album

Guess you have all been wondering what I have been up too. I spent Memorial Day making this little album. I know why Halloween this time of year? I have had this little idea in my head for some time and had to get it to paper before it never got done. I also wanted to enter the fantastic mini album contest that Peata is holding. I decided to only post a few pictures of the album until after the contest is over. Papers used were mostly Lasting Impressions and there is lots of dry embossing in album all templates are from Lasting Impressions. To bind it I used my Bind It All with 1" wires.

The little album is made using 5 coasters and has 3 section. Witches Spells included are omens and superstitions, Bubbly Brews is for ghoulishly good beverages and Monster Mash are for fun games you would play on Halloween.

Diane's Address Book

Good evening tonight I thought I would share the address book I created for Diane, the final blog candy winner. She is a SU rep and her email said she loved so saffron,white and also black. So for her book I decided to use all 3 colors and I am quite pleased at how well all the colors go together. Hopefully, she thinks so too:) I did not have SU card stock so used a color that I think is very close to SU so saffron.

I still have not finished Mom's Mother's Day gift to share but I do have a niffy ribbon storage idea that I came up with yesterday that I will post shortly.

Pretty Pink Address Book

Here is another address book I created for Joan now that she recieved it I can share it. I love making these little books and seem to be getting more and more creative. For complete instructions I do have them written up in a .doc file and would be happy to share with anyone wanting it, just email me. I planned on sharing a lunch box that is almost complete but I am just too dang tired to finish it tonight.

Address Book & Card

I thought I would share with you this evening the address book I made for Little Kelly and included with her other goodies since she has now received it. When I asked her for her color choice she said she had a country, apple themed kitchen. I have always made my books using flowers as page dividers but decided to attempt to customize it a bit more for her. To create it I used the telephone template from Lasting Impressions and an apple template. I used apples for the page dividers and apple on the front of telephone I added Ranger glossy accents. This was used to both protect the rub ons from coming off thus adding durability and to make them look yummy!

I also sent her a bright and sunny sunflower card that I designed some time ago but worth a share. I love sunflowers and this is one of my favorite stamp set used. It is a TAC stamp set that has since been discontinued. I stamped the flowers on DCWV yellow stock using Colorbox tangerine, warm red, warm green and country brown chalk inks. I mounted a panel to the front stamping a Hero Arts phrase and adding a couple of metallic brads.

Bread Anyone?

I baked all day, no not really but I did play. How do you like my coaster basket. The basket takes 8 coasters. I saw a tutorial over on Korin's blog for a dual coaster basket and it sparked an idea.

I changed several things. I was going for a more elegant basket so I chose to tag the middle using 1" double stick beading tape. I chose that due to the extreme tackiness of it. Instead of cutting the paper in 4" squares I did a continueous 8" piece. The project only took a single sheet of 12X12 paper. For the scallop on the long edges I cheated and traced the lip of an 8" envelope which worked out perfectly . I then used some cheap scallop scissors to finish it off. Also, I don't own a Crop-Dile and since no one is giving them away as blog candy I improvised by using a regular old standard paper punch. I am thrilled at how it turned out. Would this look pretty on a Holiday table?

I made these address books for gifts and all of them were well received. You might have guessed they are all made from coasters and the templete can be for in Maya Road creative corner! The hardest part of making this project is deciding what color to make for whom. If you decide to make one be sure to share them with me.

Basic Directions
Glue front and back paper to coaster. Punch 3 holes and use it as a template to punch individual address pages. Decorate front panel.Print address pages and punch holes. Punch out flowers add lettering coat letters with lacquer for durability and glue to small tab. Insert into page and glue pages shut. Install rings and decorate with ribbon to complete.

Tips….
You get a front and back page on the PDF. To make 2 pages on a sheet of 8 ½ x 11. Print two copies. Lie a front and back side by side with about 1/8" gap (to allow for fold) between them. You will then have an upper and a lower complete set. Use this as your master and run off copies. Cut out and fold left to right. They will look like pocket insert tab and glue them shut. For the tabs I used a flower punch and doubled up on them glued a front and back together so they look good from both the front and back of book. If you used solid paper it wouldn’t be needed. I took some scraps of paper left and just glued flowers to them to create tab to insert into pages.
