Super quick post since I am late posting and wanted to share one more Valentine card before the day was over. The image is from MFT "Pure Innocence". I used my Spellbinders lacy rectangle to do the edging of the card. The image was colored with my Copic markers to match paper.

Get Well Kathy!

My DD is having surgery to have her gallbladder removed today. Sending well wishes for a super quick pain free recovery. Feel better kiddo! I certainly hope this does the trick :).

Today's share is the Get Well card I made for her. I just love all the Pure Innocence stamps from MFT. Hopefully, this cutie will cheer her up nicely.

Good Evening, tonight I thought I would share another Christmas card. Kathy bought me this stamp, it's a Nina Åslund creation for October Stamps. Isn't it the cutest! It was colored using Copic markers. The paper is unknown it came from Kathy's stash.

I am having a rough time focusing my camera so I'm sorry in advance for the less then perfect picture. For some crazy reason some days it focuses other days it has me pulling out what hair I have left.

Friends are the Magic of Christmas

Hello, I got to spend a lot of time in my stamp room this weekend. So my first share is a card that I paper-pieced using a real fun set from Kim Hughes. The trees and elf were pieced using Lasting Impressions paper. Once I did all the cutting it went together rather quickly. Inside I stamped a saying using an older PSX stamp. The perfect saying for such a magical card.

Hello, we did get all the snow we were expecting and then some. I have lots of extra if anyone wants some.

I couldn't wait to play with a new SU set I got so I came up with this card. Since I don't normally send out St. Patrick's cards (which this design would be great for) I made it into a generic "Good Luck" card. By adding a few buttons and attaching some 3 leaf clovers punch out of matching background paper it makes for a nice quick card and is masculine enough to send to that special guy who may be celebrating retirement, graduation , promotion etc.

Brother's Birthday Card

Finally, the weekend is here. You would not believe my week. It started off with my car not being done on Monday like promised. The dealer called me at 4:00 to tell me the truck bringing the parts did not arrive in time for them to put them in and I would have to drive this RED loaner another day. When I went to leave work the Airbag light came on and would not go off...HUM just like mine the one that was in the shop! I drove from work to the dealership to tell them I needed another loaner! Too funny! They decided NOT to give me another as I was a jinx. I told them NO they were warned not to put me in a red car! They did have my car ready to go on Tuesday and told me to just pull the one I was driving into the garage so they could write it up. This was no minor repair the whole steering column had to be removed> I suspect they will have a recall on this model very shortly as my car only had 14,000 miles and the loaner 21,000 miles both are 2007 models.

I am still running the entire show at work since boss is not expected to return this season. Anyone, that has ever tried managing an all guy shop knows my pain. The size of the shop is slowly dwindling. Two workers were hospitalized one with cancer and the other with similar symptoms to the boss:(. With all this happening my mojo for blogging and creating is down.

My family sucks! Most every member of importance has a birthday in August or September (Kathy included) shhh her birthday is September 18. Of course, they all expect a homemade card. My baby brothers birthday was this past week luckily his party is not until this evening so my card is timely:)

With my mojo down I was stumped on a card until I remember the old rule "just pick out some manly colors" and the rest goes together! You can never go wrong selecting blues, browns and tans for male cards.

For this card I used one of my favorite SU guy sets which is now retired "Words by Wilson". I used my new Argyle embossing folder on tan cs and paired it up with some perfectly matching patterned paper from Carolees called "Preppy Argyle" . The linen sentiment is from Joann's essentials which I inked a bit to match the rest. Added a couple of metal brads to the bottom and a little ribbon to complete.

A tip: I brushed the embossed cs with some ink to give it added depth and make it stand out more. I always use my Colorbox "dune" ink for this.

I now have one less card to make, now I am off to make cards for step sons birthday, hubby's birthday, aunt's birthday, mom's birthday, Kathy's birthday and anniversary. Maybe you ought to check back with me next year!!!!!!

A December Birthday Card

Good Evening! My migraine is still kicking my butt so I am somewhat uncreative but did manage to make a couple of cards before it knocked me out. I have had this CHF by Kim Hughes set forever and finally decided to put some ink to them. My color choices make it a good card for someone celebrating in December since I choose Colorbox "warm red and warm green" chalk inks. When I first started to make it my intention was a Holiday card but thought it looked better as a birthday card:). The paper is from Plaid and is a soft white and red checkered. Other supplies used include oval Nestabilities scalloped and oval, Cuttlebug new border dots which by the way is slighly different from thier "Swiss Dots" dots much larger. Rub on is from Lasting Impressions.

Completed card is 5.25 square.

Orange You Sweet

We are half way through the week and that is a wonderful thing! Today's card was made just for fun. I have had this SU set for some time and just felt like inking it. I used color Mates "Dark Graceful Geranium" for cardstock and darker orange on the card and a pale peach for the upper. I used both Color Box "rose coral" and Imprintz "cranberry" inks to stamp the oranges on to circles that I punched out using a 1 1/4" punch. I added a bit of hand stiching around edging to finish off the card. The wording was done in word using a couple different fonts. It looks yummy, doesn't it?

Completed card is 5 1/4" square.

Male Get Well Card

Good Evening! Has anyone ever had to make a get well card for a guy? Let me tell you it is not the easiest thing to make! I drew a total blank and solicited ideas from some of my talented stamping friends before deciding on this card for my boss who was hospitalized on Wednesday. I have worked for this company for about 7 years and am second in command when he is away so it was an extremely stressful week dealing with and managing 12 male employees without his support. Hopefully, he will be back on his feet shortly but it is not looking good. Having to be the first one in and the last one to leave is really putting a dent in my stamping time...and eating...and sleeping :)

Since he is not into any sports and has no real hobbies I figured using basic colors suggested by friends I couldn't go wrong with this card. I used a lighthouse stamp I bought years ago from Angel's Attic. She has (I think still in business) many beautiful scenic and nature related stamps.

I went with olive green paper from DCWV and denim blue cs that I bought from Paper Goods. The brads are from Making Memories and I did stamp the denim with a linen background stamp from CHF. The message is Stampin Up. I mount the lighthouse on matching olive stock and distressed the edges a bit before mounting it with pop dots. I used Copic Markers to color it in.

Hello, this post will be real quick since we have some real nasty storms here and I will probably be losing power any minute. I wanted to share this quick card I made testing out my new Nestibilities last night. I really like the simplicity of this cake stamp from Unity. The clean lines allow you to color it without much effort if you desire. I love stamps like this because it is easy to jazz them up with flowers or paper piece them and are virtually goof proof!:)
I used red and a very soft pale yellow leather like paper purchased from Hallo's, a local paper wholesaler here. The upper was embossed with Swiss Dot folder from Cuttlebug, the lower was embossed using a Fiskar "Line" texture plate. I first ran it through my Wizard in one direction then reversed it to get tiny checkered blocks. I used Adirondack "Espresso" to stamp both cake and wording. The itty bitty heart button and plastic "love" word is a Valentine's gift from my DD and I am not sure where it came from, sorry.

This card is very similar to one I submitted to Take Ten and had published a couple of years ago. I am not sure how they photograph cards for publications but for some reason the card appeared in the issue with the wording backwards:)

Birds Take Two

Actually, for this card share the title should be Birds "Take Ten" because that is what this card is! It only took me about 10 minutes to put together, that is of course after I came up with the design. We won't talk about how long that took me:) . This is another stunning bird set I purchased some time ago and never played with. It's by Memory box and I just love it. I love these colors together too. For the inks I used Memories "Soft Sage", Adirondack "Espresso" and ColorBox "Azurite". Doesn't it make for a nice soft palette?

Other supplies include buttons from Lasting Impressions, Stampin Up "... and many more", brown checkered ribbon, scallop punch , ivory and sage green cs.

A stunning Bird

The card may not be stunning but this new bird stamp is! I won it on Cat's blog. This stamp is going to make some stunning holiday cards once I get creative but for now you get to see the less then stunning version that I whipped up! A pretty simple layout but effective. The stamp is one of Inkadinkado's newest ones to be released. I stamped it using Adirondack "espresso" ink. The background paper is by Adornit "Carolee's Collection and the striped paper is from Sandylion Papers "Celebration Stripes". To brighten it up a tad I added some 1" wide peach ribbon that has been around here for awhile. Wording is from Stampin Up and one of my favorite script.

I love bird stamps but I seem to hoard more of them that I actually use but I don't think I will have that problem with this beauty.

Quick Heart Card

Happy Saturday I hope you are enjoying your long weekend. Yesterday I went to my mom's for a picnic and had a fun afternoon. It felt so good to have an extra day off! It has been extremely warm here so I have been hibernating in my craft room (like I need an excuse to do that!)

Here is a very quick card I made for Sparkle N Sprinkle . This card or layout would look great with any companies heart even a dry embossed heart would look adorable. For this one I used the fabric heart by Sparkle N Sprinkle and went with red, white and black as my color choices because you can't go wrong with the basics. The designer paper is by DCWV called "text" and came in a mat stack. This card took longer to photo it then make it since the heart is created with some sparkling embossing powder called cherry also from Sparkle N Sprinkle. Other supplies used to create this card include Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder, black & white ribbon froom Michaels, Spellbinders Wizard and circle dies, Giga punch and some 3D shiny black paint.

After several attempts to photograph , I switched from a white background to a black and then was able to get a good photo it seemed to deflect the light differently allowing for a much better picture to be taken.

Foxy Lady

The weekend is finally here Yepee! When you are up 1/2 a night you never know what you might create. I couldn't help but play with my Staving Artistamps set again. I think she needs a purse but I didn't have one to add. I think it is a fun card though. What do you think?

I used the beehive Fiskar template to make the imatation cobblestone road and some cheap decorative scissors for the grass. To color I used Copic markers. Nothing real fancy just a FUN share. The stop sign is computer generated and was created using Photoshop.

More Orchids

I almost feel guilty showing you these samples I would hate for Dee Dee to see how much fun I'm having with this paper she may feel horrible for given it up! Being a paper junkie, I am so having fun with this gorgeous pad of paper from SEI.

After having one of the worst days ever at work today, police being called and all you would think I would come home and have no creative spunk. Well with this paper you don't need any. The paper and the colors are enough to inspire you!

I was a bit tired of using my Cuttlebug Swiss dot folder so I made one using a swirl folder instead.

Besides the SEI "Black Orchid" paper and the Cuttlebug folders, I used my Wizard with circle and oval dies. The Flowers and wording are from Stampin Up. and the turquoise flowers are a punch. The metal "Friend" is a dollar store find and the ribbon is from Michael's. To attach I used pop dots and double stick tapes.

Orchids Everywhere.

I won some real niffy blog candy from Dee Dee She is so talented I know it must have been torture to give up this awesome pad of paper by S.E.I. that I created these 3 cards from. I also won a bunch of other goodies from her that I can't wait to use and share. Check out her site she is super creative!

These 3 cards were all created using the SEI "Black Orchid" pad. It is a super scrapbook pad and comes with a couple of embossed plain flower sheets. On the two cards that are very similar I used this plain image as the focal point and colored them in with my Copic markers (see colors used below). I think I nailed the colors matching the stock fairly well. On the sunshine card I cut out a piece of stock and used it as my focal point.

Another note on the two that are similar I couldn't decide if the black 3/4" circle buttons looked better with the flowers or without on top of them so I made one of each. The one without measures 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 and other is 5 1/2 X 4 1/4.

Other items used include Cuttlebug Swiss Dot folder, scallop punches (giga & mega), Wizard and circle dies, Lasting Impression rub ons, bubble stickers over the cutout black circles (included in the stack) ribbon, MFT sentiment "sending sunshine" prima flowers and a mini white clip.

Just wanted to share my evening makes before calling it a night. I am sure I will be sharing much more using all the neat stuff she sent!

I certainly am putting this set to use. Here is another card created using the Doodle Factory Urban set from Starving Artist. You might recall me saying I had a few ideas for this set well this card just came together and was not one of them. That means lots more to come!

All the paper I used is from Lasting Impressions. You can't see in scan but I embossed the background with Cuttlebug "Happy Birthday" folder and used the dot folder for the band. I added some star glitter behind the bubble in spaceship for added bling. The "It's your day" is a rub on from Lasting Impressions.

Nothing Like A Rough Day!

I finished up this card in the wee hours of the night and couldn't wait to share it. For those owning this set I think you will like a couple of different things I did to create it. First off I took a stamped "blip" "blip" on white stock and cut it out with a flower punch going around the edges with black marker to make it look more like smoke. That isn't the best trick with this set. Both the robot on the ground that got splattered with paint and the one in the spaceship under the bubble are the same. I created a smiling robot by making the space between the suit and his head the mouth and gave the robot a happy look. I then decided I would make the robot inside the space ship a girl so I put curls on it using a marker from the eyebrows up. Oh how fun this set is to play with.

Stamps used Starving Artist Doodle Factory Urban. Other supplies included Ranger glossy accents, Copic Markers and white pigment pen in addition to common linen stock.
